We are looking for students to help us to work on our projects in developing solutions for our customers. We are continuously working to improve our Smart Water Platform (Aquasuite) and to make it more versatile. Together with our own research team, you will work on one of the several challenges in the Smart Water Industry. You will study a relevant topic in the field of water or wastewater using your domain knowledge and translate the results in possible new solutions or improvements that can be applied to our Smart Water solution.

What you will do as a Smart Water Technology Intern
We are offering students in the last phase of their studies the opportunity to write their thesis at Royal HaskoningDHV Digital. Would you prefer to do an internship for a shorter period of time? That is also possible!

During your internship, you will study a relevant topic that can be a possible improvement and addition to the functionalities we provide in our Aquasuite platform. We currently have several interesting research topics open for students. These include, among others:

• Improvement of leak detection and localisation methods for water distribution networks.
• Development of an automated method for optimal sensor placement for accurate leak localisation.
• Development of a method to predict risks for pipe bursts or discolouration based on operation or weather conditions.
• Enhanced anomaly (e.g. predicting septicity) detection in sewer networks.
• Predicting river water quality for optimizing the operation of surface water treatment plants.
• Modelling of end-user smart meter penetration in water distribution networks.
• Minimizing greenhouse gasses in centralized wastewater (sludge) treatment.
• Application of Machine Learning models to predict effluent quality of wastewater or water treatment plants.

You will closely work together with other domain specialist in our Aquasuite group or in the Drinking Water or Wastewater Advisory Groups. If your project is more related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, our specialists from the Business Unit Data Solutions and Business Unit Software will be available to help you out.

You will be part of our Aquasuite team of the Business Unit Software. Together we have the ambition to realise actionable insights and foresights for smarter designs and better processes within water and wastewater systems. We learn from and with each other. Every week we have a progess meeting with the other interns and relevant stakeholders.

The Aquasuite teams consists of around fifty people, distributed over teams with different focus points: Sales, Product Management, Client Success, and Software Development. We work for many Water and Wastewater companies in the Netherlands and for our customers around the globe: in United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Israel, Singapore, India, and Argentina.

What you bring
You are a Master student, interested in developing new methods and solutions to improve and smarten up the water industry. You are enthusiastic, curious, willing to find new relations, and you are not afraid to try out new technologies. We are looking for driven individuals who like to do innovative work and can function independently. Additionally, you have:

• knowledge on water and wastewater systems or hydrodynamics
• knowledge in statistics and algorithms on a bachelor level
• modelling skills in Python is preferred
